Third time's a Charm

Here we are again, poised and ready to head to Honduras to visit El Hogar de Amor y Esparanza, the Home of Love and Hope in Tegucigalpa. A year and a half has passed since MathWorks has been to El Hogar and a lot of things have changed. Girls up to the third grade now are a part of the student body. They live on campus with the boys in the new dormitory. The technical school campus is complete and the agricultural school's headcount has doubled.

All of which is to say that it's high time we went back and check out all of the magic that happens down there. We have the largest team ever to leave there from MathWorks, eleven people, with three veterans from previous trips. Here's the cavalcade:

Mark Biesiada

Jennifer Black

Jamie Cobleigh

Rachel Cobleigh

Melissa Hogan

Jason Kinchen

Stuart McGarrity

Tara Scott

Lori Tavis

And our friend from IBM:

Mark Taylor

Diane Statkus

Three team members, Stuart, Tara, and Jason have been to El Hogar before and are very much looking to go back.

But before we leave, we'd like to thank all of our friends, coworkers, and relatives for helping us raise a record breaking amount of money for the trip. Donations are still coming in but it is stacking up to be many thousands of dollars.

Our adventure begins tonight at Logan Airport at about 3:30am this morning, so wish us luck and watch this space for stories and pictures.
